Sinuses are hollow pockets of air located on either side of the nose, behind and in-between the eyes, and in the forehead. The sinuses produce mucus that cleans and moistens the membranes of the nose and throat. Each sinus has an opening into the nose that allows for free exchange of mucus and air. Signs of infection result when these openings get plugged. As mucus and pressure build in the sinuses, a perfect breading ground for bacterial growth is produced. Sinus infection symptoms are caused by inflammation and blockage of the sinus cavities. Sinus infection symptoms include: Headache, Pain, Upper jaw and tooth ache, Tenderness around the nose, forehead and cheeks, Ear ache and infection, Fever, Weakness or fatigue, cough, runny nose or nasal congestion, Swelling and pressure around the eyes.

Symptoms of Sinus Headache: A sinus headache is a headache that occurs when your sinuses become congested. Sinuses are bony air-filled cavities in the head and face that connect with the nose through small openings (ostium). The sinus lining normally produces mucus which drains through these small openings into the nose. If you have a cold or allergies, the openings of your sinuses may be blocked by excess mucus or a swelling of the tissue that lines the sinuses. When the sinus cavities are blocked, they may become infected and a headache occurs. Some symptoms of a sinus headache include: Severe Pain or pressure in the forehead or around the eyes and cheek(s); Tender skin and tender bones over and under the eyes; Pain that’s starts from the eyes and moves towards your temples; Blurred vision with extreme headaches; Stooping down, jarring your head (including with exercise, such as jogging or aerobics) or blowing your nose may make your headache feel worse.
